Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara: Two Thumbs Down

I couldn’t wait to try Maybelline’s new Lash Stiletto mascara. I really like Maybelline’s Define-a-Lash, and I was hoping Stiletto was even better. Plus, the name and packaging for Lash Stiletto is catchy and sexy. When I spotted this mascara at Walmart, I went ahead and bought it, excited to test it out.

According to Maybelline’s website, this mascara will “coat from every angle”, stretch lashes for “provocative length”, and smoothe with “black-patent shine”, rendering your lashes something like this:

Instead, this mascara is about as effective or dramatic as dabbing black food coloring on your lashes. It was dismally disappointing. The mascara is so watery that it is barely perceptible, and even after curling my lashes with an eyelash curler, my eyelashes didn’t look terribly different than they do when they are completely bare.

I gave the mascara a second chance and decided to try it with my usual black liquid eyeliner. Same effect: disappointing.

I can’t think of anything good to say about this mascara. Luckily I saved the receipt, and I returned it to Walmart and picked up a classic instead: Almay One Coat Nourishing Mascara Thickening. I’ll write my full review of this one later, but let’s just say it was a hell of a step up from Maybelline’s Lash Stiletto!
