My Wish List

Here are some items I’ve spotted and would love to try!

1. Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer Potion: Sin:

I saw this on Sephora today. According the product description, “Sin combines incredible staying power with a shimmering champagne hue that complements almost any eyeshadow. This two-in-one beauty miracle can be worn alone to give eyes just a hint of tint for when you’re in a hurry or in need of that “no makeup” look.”

I love the regular Eyeshadow Potion, and this one got excellent reviews.

2. Avon Spectra Lash Mascara:

This reminds me of Maybelline’s old Dial-a-Lash! According to, “With the innovative spectra dial, you can customize your lashes to build volume for any occasion or mood. More volume. More options. No clumps or flakes.” The mascara comes in black, brown, black/brown, and navy.

I’m a sucker for new mascaras but will hold off on this one until there are some reviews posted. Has anyone tried this yet?

3. Oscar Blandi Trattamengo al Fango Not many products get a full five-star review on, but this intensive hair conditioner is deeply loved by everyone who raved about it. I’ve tried one other Oscar Blandi product, the Jasmine Smoothing Conditioner, and it was a lifesaver after a nightmarish perm gone wrong. VERY wrong. It didn’t provide a miracle fix for the bad perm, but it made my hair softer, smoother, shinier, and healthier-looking, a minor miracle after being butchered at the salon.

4. Cover Girl Outlast Lipstain:

I saw these at Walmart and am dying to try one. I have a love/hate relationship with lipstick and lipgloss. I love the touch of color and shimmer on my lips, but I hate having to reapply and fuss every time I drink, talk, eat, etc. I end up falling back on trusty old lip balm instead of digging out the lipstick and a mirror from my purse every time it needs to be reapplied.

Cover Girl claims these lipstains “give lips a beautiful, lightweight flush of color that won’t come off, lasting for hours without the heavy look or feel of an ordinary lipstick. Its pen-like precision applicator makes it easy to define your lips-just draw on color without any hassle!”

The reviews on are hardly positive, though. Has anyone tried these to give us an opinion?

Gifts for Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day is 10 days away, and if you inherited your make-up obsession from your mom, then a logical stop for gift shopping is Sephora! I challenge you not to purchase something for yourself while you’re at it though. For every item I think my mom might like, I see about a dozen for me.

Since my mother occasionally drifts over to this blog, I won’t reveal yet what I have in store for her, but here are some items that caught my eye:

1. Philosophy Amazing Grace Gift Set (above): This is one of the cleanest, lightest, gentlest fragrances I’ve ever tested. The gift set includes a fragrance spray, a perfume oil, and a shampoo, bath and shower gel for $68.

2. Urban Decay Foreshadow Eye Shadow Palette (to right): This palette includes Urban Decay’s four best-selling eye shadows: Oil Slick, Stray Dog, Midnight Cowboy, and Flipside, all for $24.

3. The Sephora book! : The new book claims to be “The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin and Hair From The Beauty Authority”, and chapters include “What is Beauty?”; “Secret Ingredients”; “Zero to Flawless”; and “The Future of Beauty”, plus more, for $27.95.

4. You can’t go wrong with a Sephora gift card! Sephora is huge, so damn near anyone can find something they will like.

I like the idea of a Mother’s Day gift that is 100% for her, absolutely and completely all about her. Mothers, and women in general, devote so much time to taking care of someone else, and I like giving a gift that reminds her to take care of herself too.
